On Saturday August 25th The Wooly Wonders Fibert Arts Guild had a field trip to Annadele Alpaca farm near Union City, PA.

We spent the morning up close and personal with the alpaca.  We learned about how they are cared for and how they are raised for their amazing fiber.    We even learned about how new alpacas are, um… created (in Ohio…in the back of a van…oh never mind, it is all just too risque to write about on our blog…).

The owners of this beautiful farm, Deb and Sharon, made us all feel at home as we lounged around in their living room knitting and visiting all afternoon.  We ate our wonderful home made lunch while looking out the large picture windows watching as the alpaca cooled off in the water sprinklers.

We saw the lovely screened in “summer room” which is where they hand dye their gorgeous yarn.  We also spent some quality time in their Fiber Shed where we were able to purchase yarn and accessories made from alpaca fiber.

We all left that afternoon with wonderful memories of a lovely summers day spent with good friends.

Annadele Alpaca Farm will have a tent set up at the Applefest in Franklin in October, so please stop by their booth and say hello!
