Notes of meeting of 1/28/12

The meeting was held at Suzanne’s home.

The Treasurer’s report was presented.   Dues for 2012 were collected from the members present.   The annual dues continue to be $20.

Initial discussion involved use of some of our funds

Tina noted that theSenecaHillsConferenceCenterlocation is now available for a broader use by non-profit organizations.  We discussed the possibility of a one day workshop/class/presentation for Wooly Wonder members as well as outside attendees.   Our funds would be used to subsidize the class fee in an attempt to have maximum attendance with registration fees kept at an attractive amount.

Several members will be attending Pittsburgh Knit and Crochet Festival February 10-12.  They will discuss possibilities for one day workshops with regional vendors.  The discussion will include a list of potential topics, customary fees, and available times. Sue will contact Jane Bigelow and discuss the possibility of classes based on Jill and Jane’s one hour stitch pattern classes presented at the Pittsburgh Knit and Crochet Festival.  Their current class fee for these is $10.

Members discussed topics that could be presented by the group itself and came up with the following schedule.   Materials and supply lists will be sent in advance of the sessions.   We discussed the possibility of using Wooly Wonders funds in certain instances to pay for ~50% of the materials fee, with the members participating in the class responsible for the remaining costs.  We would like to support our local yarn shops if possible.

Tina will coordinate this and contact the Franklin Public Library as a possible location.

County Fairs

Wooly Wonders will sponsor prizes for the 2012CrawfordCountyand Venango County Fairs at the same level as previous years.

Old magazines from the yarn shop are currently at Sharon’s house.     She will bring them to the next meeting and any remaining issues that members do not wish to take will be given to Julie for donation to other organizations.

A Show and Tell session followed the business meeting and many works-in-progress and finished items were shared.
