OCTOBER 2011 MEETING NOTES

WOOLY WONDERS FIBER GUILD
Notes of meeting of 10/29/11
 
The meeting was held at Suzanne’s home with 7 members present.
 
Kathi has assumed the duties of Treasurer and has arranged for bank statements to be mailed to her address.  She presented an initial treasurer’s report.
 
The winning entries for best knitted item, best crocheted item and best afghan at the Venango County Fair were listed.  We received a certificate of appreciation for our support of the Crawford County Fair.
 
DVD Library:
Series 200, 300, 400 and 600 were returned.   Series 100 was borrowed by Julie.   Julie donated copies of downloaded patterns for Series100-600 and for knit accessories patterns from Interweave Press
 
Alternate meeting locations:
Members present discussed the possibility of identifying alternate meeting locations in the event that Suzanne is unable to host the meeting at her home.  Suzanne will check with the Coffee Shop and Bonnie will check with the Cupcake Shop in Franklin.  They will discuss their findings at the next meeting.  If either of these locations is suitable we can use it as an alternate if Suzanne is not available.
 
We also discussed the future direction of the group.  Interest in educational programs was expressed.  Prior to the next meeting, we will ask members to identify topics that they would like to learn more about as well as topics that they would be willing to teach.  Members should share the responsibility for programs.
 
New business:
Annadele Alpaca is holding an open house on Saturday, November 4.
Bonnie reported that Wolf Creek Yarn Shop in Grove City is now stocking Rowan yarns and expecting additional new yarns.
 
Show and tell:
Many knitted items were admired by the group.   Julie described her road trip to the New York Sheep and Wool Festival held in Rinebeck, NY.   Sharon showed us a pattern for the Beekeeper Quilt, made from scrap sock yarn and published by Tiny Owl Press. It is made from multiple knitted. slightly stuffed hexagons.  It was mentioned that this could be a possible group project in the future.
 
Next Meeting
 The next meeting will be a combined November-December meeting on December 10 at Suzanne’s home.
