For the second year in a row, the Wooly Wonders Fiber Arts Guild awarded a $25.00 prize to the “Best Hand Knit Item” entered into the Crawford County Fair.

This year’s winner is Cindy Murdock Ames of Meadville who captured this years prize with her beautiful blue lace shawl.

Cindy sent us a lovely Thank you note saying she would be using her prize winnings to purchase more yarn!

I asked Cindy to tell us a little bit about herself and her winning project.

“I’m from Meadville, and I’ve been knitting for about 4 or 5 years. The shawl was knit with Rowan Kidsilk Haze, a mohair/silk blend. It took about 2 1/2 balls. I started it in April, and finished it the last Sunday in July, 6 days before my wedding. That was cutting it close! The pattern was Seascape, from Knitty.com.”

Cindy plans to attend one of our upcoming meetings and when she does she will bring her shawl with her so that we can all admire her handiwork in person.

If you would like to see some of Cindy’s other projects you can visit her on Ravelry.com where her username is Rootchick.

Congratulations Cindy!
